Paul has a deep understanding of residential design with 26 years’ experience, focused particularly on housing and retrofit at all scales.
He is a fully accredited Architect, registered with the Architects Registration Board (ARB), and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), and capable of managing all aspects of your project.
Paul easy to work with and enjoys being part of a building team and working with other professionals in the construction industry.
Paul studied Part I, II and III at the University of Manchester, qualifying in 2000.
Paul has since worked as Project Architect in Manchester and London for some of the UK’s most prestigious design-led companies, including Urban Splash, Ian Simpson Architects and Glenn Howells Architects, before settling in Sheffield.
Key projects which demonstrate the quality Paul now brings to residential projects in Sheffield, include the extension to the Grade 1 listed Fellow’s Parlour at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge, Ian Simpson Architects head office in Clerkenwell, and The Printworks, which won UK ‘Apartment Building of the Year’ in the British Home Awards.
Paul has been engaged in architectural education throughout his career. Paul was the Head of the School of Architecture at Sheffield Hallam, working for the University from 2010 to 2025.
As an authority in architecture, Paul has been appointed by the RIBA to chair international and national validation panels, and selected as external examiner for several leading Universities including Leicester, Nottingham, Northumbria, Queen’s Belfast, Leeds and Manchester. His opinion is also sought by Sheffield City Council as as expert panel member for architecture on the Sheffield Design Review panel.
Paul maintains his broad network to ensure he remains fully engaged with emerging ideas in architecture which he feeds directly into his residential projects for homeowners in Sheffield and the wider region.
