Printworks
This project involved the design and delivery of a 164-apartment residential development at Print Works, London, creating a contemporary mixed-tenure scheme that responds to its urban context while providing high-quality homes and shared amenity spaces. Designed by Paul King while working at Glenn Howells Architects, the proposal sought to establish a distinctive architectural identity that contributes positively to the ongoing regeneration of the surrounding area in South London.
A key objective of the design was to create a robust and efficient residential building that promotes community, maximises natural light, and delivers well-planned apartments with a strong emphasis on quality of life. The arrangement of the building, circulation spaces, and landscaped communal areas was carefully considered to enhance connectivity and encourage social interaction.
The architectural approach combines a contemporary material palette with carefully articulated façades that respond to the scale and character of the surrounding streetscape. Attention to detailing, sustainability, and buildability informed the design throughout, ensuring the development delivers durable, energy-efficient homes while achieving a coherent and refined architectural expression.
The completed scheme provides 164 contemporary apartments within a confident and well-integrated residential development, demonstrating how thoughtful urban design and high-quality architecture can support the regeneration of London neighbourhoods while creating desirable places to live.
